Q: What is the best stereo system for a 2005 honda civic lx?
I want bass, but I don't want it to overpower. I want just enough for the music in the car to sound good when its up, bass where the car doesnt shake, and the music is still clear. Not trying to break the bank, just need good quality, low priced in-dash stereo, amps & subwoofers.
A: Based on your description, you have alot of choices! The in-dash units that are well-known name brands like Sony, Pioneer, JVC, etc. cost $80~$100 may not read USB or Memory cards, but they play cds and radio very well and can be easily installed with adapters if needed. Most of the time your factory speakers from the car you described are good enough to handle the sound, but if you do notice fuzziness it may be time to upgrade those, too. Direct upgraded replacements can be had at around $50~$80 per pair depending on size and brand. Sub and amp: I would recommend a pair of 10" subs in a box you can make from MDF with basic carpentry skills. If you measure the room you have in the trunk (normal place for subs) you can design a sealed sub box using the figures found on the package your subs come in. It says on the box how many cubic inches your subs want for sealed and ported enclosures. Cubic inches = width x height x depth. You can even make your sub box to where you can mount your amp to it. Good cheap subs can be $50~$100 each, and the amps that will sufficiently drive them and do what you described run about $120~$150. Just pick name brands you can trust, you cannot go wrong. Oh, and be sure to ground the amp to the car's body in the trunk. that is important.
Q: How do I add transmission oil to 2005 Honda Civic LX -its manual.?
I just don't know how to add the transmission oil to this car.
A: my advice...if you don't know how...have a professional do it. especially with something as important as the tranny. since its manual you have to access it from lower bay. but dont' get it confused with the oil drain plug...if you don't know what all this means, get a pro to do it. i'm not trying to offend you...i'm just a blunt person.
Q: How do you set the clock on a 2005 Honda Civic LX Special Edition?
I bought this car used and did not get the manual. I have ordered the manual, but it isn't here yet. The clock on this car is part of the 6-cd changer.
A: With the radio off, press and hold down the TUNE button. If you look closely, the word clock should be by that button really small. After holding the button down for about 5 seconds, the time will flash. Then you'll use the preset buttons 4,5, and 6. 4 for hours, 5 for minutes, and 6 to reset the minutes to 0:00. (there should be little letters under each button; 4 will have H four hours, 5 will have M for minutes, and 6 will have R for reset)

Q: Where is the IAT sensor located on a 2005 Honda Civic LX?
I have a mod to fool the intake on the car. I don't know if it'll make a difference or not.
There's about 4 connections, they all look the same. I'm not sure which one is the IAT sensor connector to install the mod.
- Paul
A: The wiring diagram shows that the connector for the IAT is a two wire connector; one wire is red with a yellow stripe the other is green with a yellow stripe. The IAT connector should be under the Throttle Body with the TPS above it and the MAP to the side of it. The IAT usually goes directly into the intake manifold on the Honda engines.
you should be able to locate it if you look at the colors of the wires for the connectors.
hope that helps

Q: Cost of a 30 point inspection for a 2005 Honda Civic lx, 4 door?
It has 50,000 miles on it. How much would a 30 point inspection cost?
I called a local honda dealer, and they said it was free/complementary. Is this normal? Is there a catch?
Just wondering. :]
A: 05 civic lx, you'll be fine just taking it to a honda dealer and getting the complimentary inspection, there is no catch. they won't sucker you into anything, they will just give you a list of what, if anything, that needs servicing in your car.
Q: Turbo on a 2005 Honda Civic LX Sedan?
I want to install a turbo kit on my Civic. What would I have to do to ensure I don't affect the reliability of my car as much as possible?
A: well, there are many things to be done when it comes to turbocharging a naturally aspirated car...You must consider the size of the turbo, and the amount of pressure. Things like your fuel pump, fuel rails, spark plugs, headers will probably need to be replaced. Also to get the kind of upgrade in power that you want, you must boost the car pretty high, but when doing this your engines internals must be replaced to ensure reliability. Turbocharging is a costly thing. Also when it is not done right, major problems can arise. I recommend you research a little more, and maybe search for performance shops in your area. These kinds of shops can explain everything to you in detail. Also they can give you a price estimate. In the turbo business, you do GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!
Q: Advice with improving horsepower on a 2005 Honda Civic Lx Sedan..?
I have an 05 civic sedan. I have 55,000 miles on it and would like to get some power out of it along with improving gas mileage. I recently installed 17" tires with new wheels replacing my stock hubcaps. I've heard about cold intake, spark plugs etc, but also heard that cold air intake is not always recommended. I'm by far not car savy but any advice will be appreciated. Thank You!
A: Ok, cold air intakes are good for power but inconvenient. It leaves your filter by the ground which is bad in wet road conditions. Go for a short ram, it will give you better throttle response and more hp with no rain worries. A short ram is like a cold air minus the tube extending out of the wheel well. You could remove your power steering or a/c belt (or both), that won't give hp but will remove parasitic drag on the motor allowing it to rev easier = better acceleration and mpg but you won't be very comfortable when it's hot out. You want to have good spark of course, but it's one of those things that once you want to upgrade one thing you need to upgrade another thing and so on, and it can get pricey with minimal gains, just use good plugs and wires for now. First just focus on letting your engine breathe, do the intake first, then header, cat and exhaust, then electrical. Anything beyond that (i.e. head or engine work) will require these "breathing" upgrades anyway. Those 17" rims aren't helping your cause for hp and mpg, but who wants those ugly steel things. Don't forget that weight removal can be free, and will improve mpg, acceleration, ability to reach top speed, handling and braking.
These intake, exhaust and spark mods WILL improve your mpg, you are not dumping in more fuel, you are providing more oxygen flow and spark so the fuel that is provided can burn more efficiently resulting in better acceleration with less fuel consumption. If you upgrade the fuel delivery system then you will loose mpg. The reason cars don't come with these stock is usually because of smog restrictions and cost of production. Hope this will be helpful for you.
Q: Strange noise coming from 2005 Honda Civic LX (tire/wheel related??)?
OK, here's the details first: 2005 Honda Civic LX, approx. 45k miles on it. Have had all recommended services performed. Recently replaced one tire which had a nail in it. Had an alignment/rotation done.
Problem: Right before I took it into Honda to get my 40k service done, I heard a strange noise. As I accelerate from 30mph up - I start to hear a constant "revving/humming" noise. It starts out low, and rather deep sounding, and as I speed up, it gets faster and higher pitched. Until, basically it sounds like I'm driving my car in 3rd gear when I should be in 4th. When I slow down, I hear the noise get lower and slower until it disappears. I don't hear it at idle or below 25-30 mph. My car shifts fine, and the rpms are where they should be so it's not actually "revving"...that's just what the noise sounds like. I've inspected the tires and they all look fine. But, it basically sounds like I have a small motorcycle stuck in 3rd gear driving next to my car at 60-75mph. Please help!!!
It's an automatic transmission.
A: first check the catalatyc converter shield, it could be loose. if its then just have someone remove it for you. if not, check the tires for and uneven worn spots.
Q: 2005 Honda Civic LX sedan...?

A: its a good little car :)
Q: 2005 Honda Civic LX Coupe I want more horsepower and quicker acceleration Need Help!!!?
I have a 2005 Honda Civic LX Coupe, I want more HP and a better acceleration its totally stock right now. I need to know what's the best way to go about this that is affordable parts, guages, wiring all that good stuff any assistance would be appreciated. I would prefer to just mod the current engine rather than get a k20a swap.
Note: I currently have 4 10in subwoofer and a 15 along with a battery and capacitor and two amps in the trunk so the back is a little heavy.
A: Well, the main problem you have is the engine is the non-vtec because you have the lx. Now there is nothing wrong with that entirely, but many people do prefer VTEC engines of the non-VTEC engines. When it comes to performance, you have many options. First, the basics need to be put on. Cold air intake, cat back exhaust, and headers. From there that will add maybe 10-20 horse AT BEST. If you want some real power, you need to honestly either pull your engine out and do some major engine work, either naturally aspirated, or a turbo setup. If you don't want to do that, then you need to do an engine swap. Go to www.honda-tech.com, they have many articles on swaps and what is best for your situation. Like said above, that car is not a high performing car, but you will really need to put some major money in if you want real performance out of it, and at some point lose all the subs, or at least that 15, that really adds to the overall weight and acceleration time. Good luck bro!
Q: Does a stock 2005 honda civic lx have a vtec engine?
A: no
the VTEC engine is only on the EX model in 2005
the LX in 2005 is the non-VTEC D17A1 engine
Q: How much should I ask for a 2005 Honda Civic LX? Standard equipment, Automatic, 11000 miles, like new!?
A: Use kbb. Than put the price a little higher. Remember it should be like 3 grand cheaper than you bought it.
