Q: 2005 Honda Civic EX airbag light on, how much will it cost?
I have a 2005 Honda Civic EX and two days ago the airbag light came on. After doing some research, I realize this could be a problem with the seat belt tensioner, or a problem with something in the SRS system. Does anyone know how much, roughly, it could cost to fix? For example, how much if it is the tensioner? how much if it is the sensor? Etc. I'm taking it to the dealer, not a local shop so factor the markup into the price. Thanks.

A: Dealers will hook up to their computer to see exaclty what the problem is...seat belt tensioner (some are in the belt and some in the buckles..depends on the car) will proably run you 300.00 or so including labor, Some models have more sensors than others...1 sensor, depending on its location will probably run u about the same 300.00 part and labor.

Q: 2005 Honda Civic EX Coupe...good first car for teen?
My friend is going to sell me her daughter's 2005 Civic EX Coupe...I don't know how many miles but it was her daughters who is in college and its a Honda so it will probably reliable. Its an automatic. Would it be a good first car for me? Its silver with black interior. It has a sunroof. They are selling it for about $10,000 Thanks!

A: You also should compare car insurance quotes for different cars before buying one, for example here - car-insurance.66ghz.com

Q: Honda Civic 2005 EX Overheat?
Now and then my 2005 Honda Civic EX' temperature gauge goes up 3/4 of the readline (maximum). I noticed this happened only when my car is idle (engine on, not moving like when stopping on a traffic light). The problem resolves on its own or if I hit on the gas pedal gently. No coolant leaks on the ground noted, however I need to fill up coolant every week or so - as coolant level goes down for some unknown reason. Changed thermostat but problem persist. What can be the problem? Thank you for answering!

A: First thing to do is power wash your entire engine bay, esp the space between the radiator and the A/C condesner. Leaves and debris always collect here affecting proper air flow. Remove all squashed bugs from the front of the rad as well. Use only Genuine Honda coolant. Anything else will eventually rot the head away. For safety's sake, install a new engine cooling fan switch. It is good insurance against over-heating. Make sure your battery cables are clean on BOTH ends!!!

Q: How do I remove the head unit of my 2005 honda civic EX special edition?
I have poked around in there and cannot seem to figure out a way to get that thing out. Any tips? I want to look at the back of it to see if there are sub outs or if I have to just replace the deck if I want to wire subs into my car

A: There are no sub outputs on the factory radio. For best performance you want to replace the radio but your other option is to purchase a line output converter (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4994_Scosche+LOC-80+Adjustable+Line-Out+Converter.html). It allows you to add an amp to your factory system. ***Additional: How to remove the radio: http://www.jigglz.com/images/FRINSTALL.pdf

Q: How do I install Xenon replacement bulbs in 2005 Honda Civic EX 2 DR?
PS--> Please answer in terms a 23-year-old young lady would understand! Thanks so much :)

A: You will have to remove the front bumper cover first, then remove the headlamps and that will allow access to the bulbs. You would probably be better off taking it to a local body shop and letting them do it for you. It will cost about a $100.00

Q: Im trying to sell my 2005 honda civic ex special edition with 12000 miles, but has a salvaged title?
How much should i sell the car for? The car is in good condition, and it runs and drives really smooth no joke

A: Its probably worth less than half of KBB or other price guide because its got a salvage title. You might as well keep it since its worth almost nothing. According to KBB a 05 Civic EX Special Edition 4 dr is worth $15,500 in excelent condition and $13,400 in fair condition. That means at best yours is about $7,500 but most likely much lower.

Q: should i get rid of my 2005 ford focus st for a 2005 honda civic ex?
it will cost me some money but the accord is safer and they get the same mpg

A: I don't think so. The focus is a good car. It used to be better and really the best small car when it was new back in 2000-2003 but it has been redesigned till 08 and it is not a major redesign. My point is it isn't better than the civic but still a solid car. If the focus is doing it for you than I think it be more of a hassle to get the civic. But if you have it paid off and don't mind going through the car buying ordeal go ahead just make sure it is mechanically sound. But if I were you and going to get a new car I'd go with at least and 07. Edit: Sorry, I didn't see your details at first. The focus does get side crash results that aren't the best but I don't think they're enough to justify getting the Civic. The focus has optional abs so you might have that but the Civic has standard I think. But if you have it on your focus your good. With the cost some money comment, if your basically just trading cars and only have to pay a few hundred dollars difference I'd do it if your that concerned about safety. I also looked back into the 05 ratings and the Focus is just as good or better than the Civic.

Q: How often should I change the oil in my 2005 Honda Civic EX SE?

A: I'd agree with the prior post. 3 month or 3000 miles which ever comes first will make your engine last longer. Most manufacturers recommend 5 months or 5000 miles. If you change the oil yourself you can always check the viscosity and cleanliness of the oil. I was doing my brand new Toyota (new in 2003) every 3000 miles, but the oil was still clean and the viscosity good so I went to every 4000 miles. However, I'm familar with what I'm expecting. For the average person I'd go with the 3 months and 3000 mile rule. Also, Honda's require special motor oil. 5w-20 (very low viscosity) you can't typically purchase this in stores so I recommend you go to the dealership or an oil change place that carries this specific viscosity oil. Check your owner's manual!

Q: need some suggestions with Honda 2005 Civic Ex?
Hi everybody, thanks for your attention. i own a 05 honda civic ex, and id like to give it some speed and some look! and still be legal in U.S, what do you guys recommand? i dont wanna spend too much money, i stick to less than 1grand.

A: This is a list of most bang for the buck: Well first off adress your intake you can either swiss cheese your airbox or buy a cheap open airfilter online. If you swiss chees your box get a K&N as paper filters dont like any more moisture tha they see. Your exhaust go with 2.25 piping and stay away from a straight through exhaust. For your engine that will be a bigger loss in back pressure than youw ill need. With major loss in back pressure your only gains are minimal and at very high end 7-8k RPM! Consider you wheel weight 1lb of rolling weight lost is like 3hp roughly. Rolling weight is wheels, tires, gears, flywheel etc. Rolling weight is much better to get rid of than standing weight. Ok now I cant remember everything about this next subject so if your intereste dyou must do some research. If you lower your overall diamater of your wheel/tires you will have more lower end speed (as in 1000rpm through 3000) that is an example I am not sure the peak gain in rpm is but it is low. If you go and increase your wheel/tire diam you will only see it higher. So in everyday driving I would lower it. So if you 195/85/16 drop to a 195/35/16 just for an example. Again calulations are needed to see optimum gain. Short shifter will help in race only situations. For looks I would go with the nicest light weight wheel there is. Many aftermarket wheels are pigs. Ground effects are tough I am very picky and not familar with what is out for hondas. The biggest problem with hondas is lack of lower end! Consider this with your mods. I had a car with all top end and it sucked leaving from every stoplight I was always behind the pack and would have to get high in RPMs just to keep up. Just be careful if you buy a camshaft/s. YOu get something big and your doomed for street.

Q: What Color Rims do you think will look best on my 2005 Honda Civic Ex Special Edition?
Honda Civic is Black

A: What color is your civic? edit: Gold looks nice with a black car. Here's a site with a ton of rims http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/results.jsp?&autoMake=Honda&autoModel=Civic+EX+Sedan&autoYear=2005&autoModClar=&filterSize=All&filterFinish=All&filterSpecial=false&filterBrand=All&filterNew=All&sort=Brand Black rims on black is a good combo, but it's overly used. Grey/ or gunmetal always looks sleek. The color depends on what look your are trying to accomplish.

Q: Should I Trade in my 2005 Honda Civic Ex?
This summer I bought a 2005 Honda Civic Ex, 2D Coupe, automatic with 93,025 miles. My total car loan now is $12,650. Last week it stalled on me at a stop light. I was stuck for a few min and had to restart the car. These intermittent "stalling" issues are sometimes hard to detect according to some mechanic's and can cost $$$ over time. The brake shoes are bad and will cost around $325 to fix. Due to the high miles in 6-9 months I will be looking at replacing the timing belt and water pump $775. Should I cut my loss here and either sell the car on my own OR trade it in for a 2007-08 Honda Civic with very low miles?? Am I overreacting here? I don't want a "problem child" car with issues that will waste time and money down the line. My credit is Great!

A: If you trade it now you'll be "upside down" in the new car. The down payment is about what you owe, so your equity in your '05 is zilch. My personal philosophy is if it's not rusted, fix it. if you drive a new to you '07 Honda, you might have the same problems that you are having with your '05, and then you will be car payment poor, so to speak, so my advice is to pay down your '05 while fixing it.

Q: Keyless Entry Not Working On 2005 Honda Civic EX. Help?
About a year ago, my keyless entry stopped working on my 2005 Honda Civic EX. Nothing out of the ordinary happened, but sometimes, I would have to press the button on the FOB a few times to get it to work. Then one day it stopped working. I replaced the FOB battery and that did not fix it. I checked the fuse, as well, and it appears to be in good working order. When I removed the panel under the steering wheel, I noticed a yellow connector was disconnected. It looks like there are two different plugs it could fit into. I'm not sure if this is the problem, but I suspect it is. Have you encountered this, and do you think plugging it back in would get it to work again?

A: if its a small yellow plug then its mostly likly your SRS diagonstics cable. it just came out the dumby socket. your gonna need to replace the remote itself to get your keyless entry working again

Q: 2005 honda civic ex special edition mods?
i put a kn air filter and short ram it what else should i do to gain more hp thats cheap?

A: thats about as far as you can go before it gets gay. you could put a fart muffler on it but it will make it sound like ass and you wont gain anything throwing a 5" wide muffler on 1 1/2" exhaust. Even if you do do full length exhaust your engine doesn't produce enough power to really utilize it. just enjoy it for what it is. You could get a chip burned but its generally pretty expensive and not worth the money. Emphasis on 'CHEAP' ways to gain horsepower read the question. last i checked taking the head off and 'shaving' it is not going to be real cheap. Nitrous on a stock motor? thats retarded. The motor was built for reliability and fuel economy Not a shot of nitrous to go racing. If not installed properly you can damage or destroy the engine in your car and even if it is your shaving miles and years off of the life of it. Cat back exhaust doesn't help hardly at all on a civic despite what you hear. it will just sound like crap and with the loss of backpressure you lose torque in doing so. it might help if more power was produced say through a turbo(which is far from cheap). I am being realistic here. Taking the ac out and interior is whats known as 'ricing it out'. Its not a drag car so its not going to help much. It will just look like ass and wont be very much fast. thats not even a performance mod, just ghetto as hell. Do you think T/A and STI drivers do that? probably not. I dont think you are really reading what i am saying. Am i trashing all jap cars? no. I know there are some respectable 'tuner cars' but a civic with a wing and a tacky body kit to make it look like a jet or whatever people do it for is stupid. If you show cars, more power to you. But yanking ac and the back seat out of any economy car for power is desperate, The ricers are the guys who put bolt ons onto their econo boxes and think they drive a porsche. being a ricer is an attitude. Intake and exhaust on a sub 200hp car is not going to make you fast. 14.1 on nitrous is fast? compared to what?
