Q: How do I make sure I get the right size of wheel for 2004 Honda Civic?
I want to get some aftermarket wheels for my 2004 Honda Civic Coupe LX, but I want to stay with the same size of tires. I believe that the tires I have on there now are 195/60R15. I know that I obviously want to stick with 15" rims, but what else do I need to know about the size of the wheel?
A: Look inside the door jam of the driver's door. There is suppose to be a label that tells you tire size and air pressure.
Q: What is the best (most durable) body kit for a 2004 honda civic?
I currently own a 2004 honda civic and i've been looking into gettin a body ket for a while now. But i don't want to get one that will break or get messed up by a speed bump. Which body kits would you recommend?
A: hondaparts.net
Q: What is the rear deck speaker size on an 2004 Honda civic sedan?
I own an 2004 Honda civic sedan, and need to know what is the rear deck speaker size. After searching various websites I am getting to much conflicting information. I would preferably like to get this information from another civic owner, or professional installer who actually knows this answer for sure. I greatly appreciate the help.....
A: Six and half speakers will fit
Q: Which repair and maintenance DIY manual is better for a 2004 Honda Civic?
I know Chilton's is more expensive than Haynes, $30 versus $21....Usually the store will have them wrapped so you can't preview what you are buying. which is better of the too? more info, more details, more pictures, more accurate. This is for my 2004 Honda Civic LX.
A: Chilton and Haynes are very limited, you can get an online repair manual at alldata.com for $17 for a 1 yr subscription. If your not used to using their system sometimes it may be a little frustrating to find some of the information your looking for, but it is a complete repair manual and will put chilton and haynes to shame.
Q: Does a 2004 Honda Civic come with an alarm?
I have a 2004 Honda Civic. The dealer said it had an alarm, but I don't see it. It has keyless entry, but do they normally come equiped with alarms? My keypad just shoes lock, unlock and panic.
A: no
it did not
Q: On a 2004 Honda Civic what do I need to replace crash airbags.?
I have a 2004 Honda Civic 2dr coupe and i need to install new airbags, what do I need. At one point the car had them but I bought it salvaged and now California Highway Patrol requires me to put new ones in. What do i need, module, air bags,?? maybe even seat belts although mine work. also where can i find them for cheap?
A: talking to man who has been in 2 horrific car accidents this year ( I cannot believe I came out alive in the last one) you do NOT want to go cheap on air bags and seat belts. If it were not for those two safety features...I would not be lecturing you right now.
Q: How does the door panel come off to replace the driver's side mirror of my honda civic 2004?
I bought a replacement mirror for the drivers side of my honda civic 2004 and i know that i need to take the panel off the inside but i obviously don't want to break it...do I just pry it off, are there connectors that I need to locate? Please help, thanks!
A: You should buy or make a window w handle release tool and buy a door panel removal tool You will need to remove the screws from behind the door handle pocket and under the armrest and look for any others. If you have manual windows you can make a crank release tool out of a bent coat hanger. Cut it to about 15 inches and put a 90o bend on one end then push the plastic washer back and turn the crank till you see the horseshoe part of the clip facing upward then insert the tool and pull the clip up till it comes off. Snap the clip back onto the handle to prevent loss. Double check for any screws then using a panel removal tool gently pry the door panel back then insert a pencil into the gap and locate the clips then gently remove them by pry with the tool
Q: How much would it cost to install keyless entry on my 2004 Honda Civic?
The one thing I don't like about my Civic is that it has no power locks and keyless entry. Just curious as to how much this might cost, parts and installation included.
A: Keyless entry on any car, any door (including non-powered door locks) is done (cheapest) via aftermarket car alarms.
Most car alarms will have an option to also unlock your car door. If you don't have PDL (power door locks), you will need to add a motor to do that. Typically it runs from $50 to $100 per door, plus the price of the alarm and installation.
I'd look into Pennysaver, or local ads for specials. Or, you can just call the different car stereo places, and ask them over the phone. Cheapest for adding PDL to 2 door car + alarm is probably around $250 ~ $325.
These days, I'm sure if you ask nicely, they'll give you a better deal than what's quoted on the phone, especially if you're standing there saying I'd go with your shop if I get another $25 discount.
Make sure you call a few before you bring your car in.
Good luck.
Q: My 2004 Honda Civic won't start. Lights, radio, horn, alam still work so it isn't my battery, correct?
I saw some red/pink wet stuff on positive side of battery so I thought I just needed battery but if my lights, radio work then it is not the battery. It makes ticking noise only when I turn ignition. I was told it might be my alternator. Being a Honda, I wouldn't have thought I would need some major work so soon! Help, please.
A: See if you can get someone to help you jumpstart your car with their battery. If it starts up fine, then your alternator may have gone bad and needs to be replaced.
You can confirm this by measuring the voltage reading across your battery terminals while your car is running on neutral idle. If your multimeter shows less than 13.5 volts, then your alternator has gone bad and may no longer be recharging your battery to full capacity.

Otherwise, if it reads over 13.5 volts, then your starter needs to be replaced. The starter solenoid may be working (as indicated by the ticking noise) but the starter motor may no longer be spinning.

Good luck!
Q: I have an 2004 honda civic sedan ex. Is it a good thing to add a cold air intake to the car?
Does adding a cold air intake to a automatic civic do any good for it so I won't lose my money?
A: do not put a cold air intake in. just replace your factory filter with a high flow filter. when you add extra piping you are making the air travel at a longer distance, you are losing pressure inside of the piping creating a loss of horsepower. not to mention where exactly are you getting cold air from. it should be called a cooler air intake. use your money to do more positive things to your car. like royal purple oil, pulse plugs, k&n air filter, helix power tower throttle body spacer (if available),and a good programmer. with that combination you will increase hp by about 15-30 and mpg 5-10. i have done this exact set up to my 2002 v6 firebird. the results were very noticeable. i added an exhaust for better air flow. but , i wouldn't suggest spending money on an exhaust system for a honda civic. maybe an axel back system.
Q: We have a 2004 Honda Civic that at times starts real sluggish and others alright. The trip/temperature resets?
Recent burning wire smell on the passenger side of the car. Could not find any burnt wires. Is there anything that goes bad that could affect the trip/temperatur gauge and also the starting. The starting almost feels like a dead battery.
A: I'll make it an even money bet it is a dead battery. Most original batteries are good for 3-5 years and that's where you're at. when the battery voltage drops it will cause the trip reset to lose its memory and to affect the operation of the gauges because the electrical current is inconsistent.
obviously the dead battery will cause the slow start as well.
as for the burning odor, look under the car.at the exhaust. Its not unusual to have plastic grocery or trash bags get caught on the exhaust and melt. it smells just like burning wires as the plastic bags melt on the exhasut pipes. this is very common; look for black residue on the exhaust pipes.
have your battery tested at a parts store or at a honda dealer. I'm sure the test will show its time to replace your battery; I'm almost certain as certain can be that will fix your other problems
hope that helps
