Q: How to install Power Locks and Windows on a 2002 Honda Civic DX?
I have a kit for a 2 door Honda Civic DX. It came with the power lock actuators and the regulators for the power windows. It also came with a trunk pop kit, keyless entry, car alarm, and remote start. If anyone has any idea where I can find a set of DIY (do it yourself) instructions. Please let me know.. Thanks.

A: the best place to get the instructions is from wherever you got the kit from. when you get involved in aftermarket parts there is no standard; their wiring looms and colors don't have any standards. the parts are typically "universal' so there isn't any set mounting instructions or adjustments. look on the box and contact the maker to see if they can give you a lead on where to find instructions.

Q: Should I buy a cold air intake system for my 2002 Honda Civic Dx or is it better to just buy a better air filt?
Ive been hearing a lot of negative things about installing a new col air intake system on any car and the only time you get the benefit of the extra horse power is if you are racing at 100 miles an hour. so is it better to save the money on the intake system and just buy a really good air filter? Will the air filter improve horse power and gas mileage?

A: You won't feel any gain, its a small amount of power. A cold air is too much of a hydrolock risk on a DD. Either just change the filter or get a Short-ram.

Q: what's the difference between a 2002 honda civic dx and a 2002 honda civic ex?
ok so an ex and dx would have the same speaker size and all that? thats mainly why i was wondering

A: The letter "d" is replaced with the letter "e". Bingo! Two points! Sorry...couldn't resist that. EX is the upscale Civic model, DX is the base model. Speaker size is the same.

Q: How do i rotate my tires on a 02 honda civic dx?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic Dx. My driver side tires come off with no problem. My rear passenger tire also comes off easy, but when i get to my front passenger tire, it will not come off. There is some type of bolt that will not come off. Let me know what to do. Thanks

A: Rotate them anyway you want to... Actually Honda recommends a rotation in the owners's manual. do you have one? I believe it is RF to RR RR to LF LF to LR LR to RF But some tires are designed to only rotate in one direction which means you can only move them from front to rear and rear to front always keeping them on the same side of the car as they were originally installed by the tire dealer. So it depends on the tires you have. You don't have some sort of wheel lock on one wheel do you? Like these for instance http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&refid=store&item=220350955762&category=33749&viewitem=#ebayphotohosting If so look in your glove box for the key etc.

Q: Safety: 2001 Toyota Celica GT vs 2002 Honda Civic DX?
Which one is safer?

A: I own a 00 toyota GT and its best car there is. Its good looking, comfy, drives and handles amazingly. And the gas milage is awesome. !!! i get 30-35 per gallon. Id say both are safe cars to buy. Reliable and nice to drive. But celica insurance will be more expensive and its more expensive to maintain the car,. since they dont make those anymore. Id say go with celica. Good luck

Q: Hey, I have a 2002 Honda Civic DX. I nailed a curb at about 40mph. There is no shaking, but the tire clicks.?
Actually, my friend who I let drive nailed it trying to get off the highway too late for the exit. Basically, we nailed that thing at about 40-45mph. So I thought the worst. But all we heard was a clicking and the steering was more or less exactly as it was before (I took the reigns after said accident). We swapped the spare on and the inner edge and outer edge of the rim (this is a cheap-o stock rim) had significant bends in them. It looks like the inner bump on the rim could've been knocking the caliper/brake pads and that was causing the knocking. Any advice on costs and possible outlook? Everything drives straight and true (given that I'm rollin' on a 10" spare, at least) so is it possible that the only damage was to the rim?

A: You should remove your caliper, brake pads, caliper mount, and brake rotor. Inspect the bolts and screws to see if any of them have loosen, stripped, or snapped; replace if damaged. New bolts should cost less than $10. Use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts back to specification. Also check the brake rotor shield to see if it has been bent against the brake rotor - just bend it back. If there's still some clicking, your CV joints may have been damaged. It will cost $70 for a new axle with CV joints. You'll need a strong impact wrench to loosen the axle nut and a ball joint remover to lift the hub off of the bottom arm joint. Good luck!

Q: Honda Civic need help with some codes and diagnosis of symptoms?
First off I'm a girl and a college student so very far from a mechanic so my description of problems will be less technical then other threads that I've read. I catch on quickly but won't be doing the work myself however I'd still like to understand. Ok here's whats going on: (Symptoms) One day on the highway after driving about an hour my CEL came on in the middle of driving and my car (2002 honda civic dx) wouldn't go over 30 mph. No matter how hard I pushed the gas, the car wouldn't go very fast. Uphill it would go even slower, and it seemed worse with the A/C. Like there was only a certain amount of power for the car and if it went uphill or had a/c on, it took away from that power. When I shut it off and let it sit for a little while, it would drive fine for about 30 mins and then the car would go slow again. Also, when idle, car almost stalled out. And when starting from stop, took car very long time to even get to 20 mph. Had to drive with hazards on. Car doesn't always do this, same distance to school and home everyday and sometimes car makes it fine with no problem, sometimes CEL comes on. Seems like it comes on quicker if its hotter out. However, wether or not the CEL came on that day, each start up of the day the car was always sluggish to catch gear and there would be no power behind the gas for a few seconds and then the engine would 'surge' and catch up gear real quick, does this about 2 times and then drives fine (until light comes on) Anyways so I checked under the hood and exhaust manifold had crack. My cat converter is built into mani so I had this whole peice replaced (OEM part off ebay 1/3 price and only 50 bux to put in). Also replaced both O2 sensors. Car seemed to drive good for a few days but then did the same thing as before on my way to school. Seemed like even less power than before. Took it by autozone and heres the codes that came back. P0171 p0131 p0133 p0118 p1362 p1362 So the first 3 codes deal with the o2 sensors and especially since its saying my system is running to lean (which would make sense because of the crack in old mani), is this a code that has to be cleared out when the problem is fixed or shouldnt the cars computer automatically read that the problem is fixed and correct itself. i would think especialy since the CEL doesnt just stay on, but seems as if something 'triggers' it after extended driving. I also read that the o2 codes could be coming back if there is an engine misfire (such as my TDC codes coming back). are those codes usually if u just have to replace the sensors or i heard that in honda's it usualy means excessive camplay and is costly. are any of these codes effecting each other (other than the obvious), how about my o2 codes, should that be fixed because of new exhaust mani put in or does this mean def. other problem, if so, what could it be. and my main question, what do my symptoms sound like. do the symptoms im experiencing with my car sound like anything specific that go hand in hand with the codes coming back! thanks so much for reading all of this and helping me! im just trying to understand because i love my car and want to make sure i take care of her properly and i dont have a lot of money to just throw away at garages and have them tell me whatever. i would have paid 1000 bux for my cat job if i didnt do the research here myself! thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!

A: I'm thinking its just time you did a major tune up, but you could try a fuel system cleaning additive first.

Q: What type of Honda Civic do I have?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic, but I'm not sure whether it is a DX, LX, or EX. I personally think it is an EX, but I'm not sure. It has a sunroof and a Vtec engine, which I have been told neither a DX or LX come with. I bought it from a dealer today and he also had no idea what it was, since it was not on the title and the badge on the rear had been removed. Please help me find out what I bought! Thanks!

A: You have the EX trim since the DX & LX never came equipped with a sunroof or a VTEC engine.

Q: 2002 honda civic timing chain?
4cyln std 1.7 dx driving down the rode and it died tried to restart and it gave a whine and its not the starter~need help and how much should it cost? how to tell if a timing belt went and how much?

A: You need to check the basics like fuel, spark and compression. If you are suspecting a broken belt then perform a compression test. If you dont have a compression tester then remove the oil cap and have someone crank the car over while you look inside. If the belt is broken then the cam wont be spinning. If you see parts moving then you can assume the belt didnt snap. If the belt did snap then it's going to be exspensive. The d17 is an interfernece motor meaning if the belts snap the pistons are going to hit the valves. You would need to replace the bent valves and obvs replace the belt, also the water pump while you are in there. You might be able to find a junkyard head for cheaper then replacing the valves and slap it on. Plus if you cant afford downtime on your car it shouldnt take more then a day to swap the head. Good luck

Q: What are good Brand Car Audio Speakers?
I have a 2002 Honda civic Dx Coupe and i was wondering what are good brand speakers that i could put in to replace my stock ones. I would like something that is inexpensive and the quality has to be good and something that has good bass also. Right now i have an aftermarket Sony xplod deck that i just bought a few days ago. I was thinking that Alpine speakers would work but im not sure.

A: Alpine has the best head units for the money, as far as the rest of the components go stick with JL or Alpine. They're great, reliable, and long lasting.

Q: Is it possible to outrun her car?
I’m a very zealous cyclist and enjoy taking on difficult challenges. My friend, Yin and I take the same route to work, which is a quiet rural road. There is a stretch of a 3 mile straightway, so I’m wondering if it is possible to outrun her car? Postscript: My friend, Yin drives a 2002 Honda Civic DX, with a 1.7L, 115 horse power engine and a 4-Speed automatic transmission. To pass on my thanks, I’ve temporary placed a photo page for your viewing. Please comment. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11603612@n0... In return, please offer your honest opinions. http://360.yahoo.com/profile-VrkrcKk6erLrU5Ch.rdiyb8-

A: Your link doesn't work. It's hard to say who would win. If the entire route is a three mile straight rural road, she will cream you if there is no traffic and you start at the same time. To put the challenge more in your favour, look for a flat route with short cuts and a lot of peak hour traffic congestion, you want to have a route where you can average a higher speed than she can. ;)

Q: What's the biggest rims i can get?
for a 2002 honda civic dx?? i dont want to raise it i dont something really big

A: I have seen 20s on the 2001-2005 models, but they rub and you have to shave the fenders. I would go no larger than 18s on a 7th gen Civic. Actually 17s are the biggest I would go if you still want a semi-comofrtable ride.
