I am having problems with my 2002 honda civic and will most likely need to get a new or rebuilt transmission. Does anyone know how much a new/rebuilt transmission plus labor would cost for a 2002 honda civic? Thanks for your help! : )
A: over 1000
Q: what is the torque spec on my 2002 honda civic transmission fluid pan bolt?
Bought the filter / fluid for my 2002 automatic honda civic-ex , but cant find the specific torque spec to re-tighten the pan/bolt when im all done draining. No luck from several auto parts stores / manuals. Different years seem to require 29 lbs/feet but I wasn't able to find out for my model year in particular.

Q: How much is a new transmission for a 2002 honda civic sedan?
I have a 2002 civic sedan with a blown transmission..
The dealer said $3,500 for a new transmission with 3 yr warranty & $2,500 for a used junk yard transmission with 70k miles with 1 yr warranty..
I know dealers overcharge so what really is the price of a new transmission?
Because i have $2,500 of disposable income & dont wanna blow it on a used transmission..
A: Although dealer prices are typically higher that is your only source for a NEW transmission. A rebuilt one (or rebuilding yours) will cost you probably just as much. AND don't have a Honda tranny rebuilt by just anybody - get one from, or ship it out to a shop that specializes in Honda transmissions. It will probably cost you about $3,500.
So, if your car has somewhere over 70,000 miles on it, and you plan to trade it in within 3 or 4 years, get the used one. If you really plan to keep this car for another 5 years or longer, buy the new one.
Consider also that Honda transmissions are very very good, it yours failed in a 2002 civic, something happened to cause that failure. Make sure it doesn't happen again.
If you like to gamble, work with a small mechanic shop and try to find a salvage transmission from a private party (not a wrecking yard) for less and get no warranty.
Really the difference is you are paying for the warranty. No warranty - $500 to $750. 30 day warranty $750 - $1000. 90 day warranty $1000- $1500.
I bought an automatic transmission for a civic project off Craigslist. Picked it up in an Arco parking lot. No documentation. The guy said it had about 70,000 miles on it. The guy said it had been under his deck for 4 years. The guy said there was nothing wrong with it. I gambled $70 plus a lot of labor and have 40,000 miles that I've put on that car since with no problems.
Good Luck
Q: Will my 2002 Honda Civic make it to Las Vegas from Los Angeles?
I have a 2002 Honda Civic LX. Everything is stock and I believe the engine is 115 hp. I am traveling to vegas next weekend from Los Angeles and I don't want to have to worry about my weak car not being able to make the trip to the vegas and back since there are many hills along the way. Do you think I will encouter problems? Thanks!
A: No they made a rule that if you don't have 116 hp they don't let you go over the mountains. This really sucked back when cars 1st came out because people had to drive to the mountains, walk over them, then borrow a car from someone going the other way before they could continue on their trip.

Q: My 2002 honda civic makes a clicking sound when I turn the steering wheel?
I can only hear this when I'm turn the wheel at slow speeds. Sounds like it is coming from the left wheel area. Any ideas?
A: CV joints most likely. Honda's generally need the CV joints replaced every 6 years.
Q: How to turn off warning sign (engine picture) on a Honda Civic 2002?
Hi, i currently own a Honda Civic year 2002. One of the warning light in my car all of a sudden is turned on. It's the one that cautions you and tells you to check the car system. It's like a picture of an engine. Well i checked my car and nothing seems wrong. So my question is how do i turn the light off?
A: Go to your local auto parts store and buy/borrow an Onboard Diagnostic (OBD 2) scanner. Plug the cable to the port underneath your dashboard and start your engine. Write down the error code, look up the description for the code and repost your question with the error code.
http://www.hondacivicrepairs.com/mil_cel_codes.asp?q=Trouble%20Codes%20(MIL%20/%20CEL)&id=23
When this warning sign comes on (Check Engine Light), it's telling you that your car has detected a problem or malfunction with your car or it's sensors that help your car run efficiently. If you ignore this light by simply turning it off can make matters worst as your car will eventually run sluggish, rough, or no longer start at all.
Also, if you attempt to disconnect your battery or use the OBD 2 scanner to clear the check engine light, it will return when you computer detects the problem unresolved.
Good luck!

This is a pretty involved engine swap compared to your normal B series swap. The engine is turned around the opposite way (or correct way we should all say), custom fuel lines need to be installed, wiring is completely different compared to normal 92-00 Civic/Integras. Hybrid harnesses are necessary unless you choose to get involved with wiring the whole thing manually, and of course, some skills in fabricating/cutting such has with a die grinder is necessary. A lot of people who do this swap also end up doing complete rebuilds such as painting, re-doing a lot of other things which I'd suggest since it'll be your favorite toy for a LONG time.
