Q: Where is the catalytic converter on the 2001 honda civic lx sedan?
Can anyone tell me where the catalytic converter is on the 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan? Really need help here. Thanks!

A: Tommy, for a 2001 Honda civic, its attached to the Exhaust manifold and can be found by lifting the hood and peering through the engine bay. Follow the link >> http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/catimgs/13s5a01_e04.png << The indicator '4' refers to the catalytic converter location.

Q: First upgrade to a 2001 Honda Civic LX - exhaust or cold air intake?
Looking to buy an exhaust system on my honda 2001 LX civic, but I have only 200 dollars. I dont want it to sound like a "Pissed off bumblebee" ---- if that makes sense ;) Or should I buy a decent cold air intake? Either way, Ill have the both of these within a month. But which first. What kind should I get...which exhausT?

A: if the car is automatic, don't waste your money on either. if you're serious about performance, then get the intake first. you only have $200 and a decent exhaust system upgrade costs way more than that. you should do some more MINOR tweaking under the hood before springing cash for the exhaust so that when you do get it, you'll notice somewhat of a difference. its funny...i have a 2006 lx; if you and i had an opportunity to get our hands on a turbo charged ride or a turborcharger, WE WOULD HAVE ONE. but we don't. whether it's due to financial reasons or whatever, we're just trying to make do with what we have. i personally would be happy from a 7-12hp gain- even if it's not all at the wheel. it's a start. it's a project. it's hoping that one day i'll be able to get that turbo (if they even make it) and create a decent sleeper. if your ideals are similar to mine, the car is stick, and you really are into or want to be into tuning, then don't get discouraged and get the intake for starters. besides, that's where most people on limited budgets start anyway.

Q: What are the best subwoofers and amplifier/speakers for a 2001 Honda Civic LX?
I have recently purchased a used 2001 Honda Civic LX and I am looking to later put in a sub enclosure of 12" subwoofers and replace the factory speakers and possibly include an amplifier and/or tweeters. I do not want to spend too much money but I would like to get the best for what I would be spending. I do not know too much about auto audio so any help would be greatly appreciated.

A: it depends on what your willing to spend and subs and amps are not vehicle specific so you can go with anything you havent really narrowed it down for us good luckthough try crutchfeild.com

Q: Is there a recall or extended warranty on 2001 Honda Civic LX slow windows?
The front windows are very slow to go up, particularly when it is cold. Is Honda extending the warranty or recalling?

Q: How can I increase the performance in my 2001 honda civic LX?
would doing the air intake, catback system improve anything? What are the best brands to buy? How can the suspension be improved?

A: My first addition to my civic LX01 was an AEM v2 CAI. Im looking for a good exhaust right now looking at megan racing, skunk2, dc sports, but i want to keep it CA legal. CAT back is illegal in CA so cant go there. But the CAI improves gas millage and adds HP. Suspension go with coilovers, D2, skunk2, to lower the car. I upper front strut bar and some good tires...

Q: What motor oil do I use for my 2001 Honda Civic LX coupe?

Q: Why did the electrical components of my car drain momentarily while driving my 2001 Honda Civic LX?
I was on the road today and it has been pouring all day. However, toward the end of the day my whole electrical system (lights, radio, dash lights, heating) all began to drain. It is like what happens in a lightening storm when u are about to lose power. Does anyone have a clue about what this is due to?

A: there is a thing called hydrostatic lock, since liquids are non compressible your car may have sucked in some rain water like a straw thru the air intake hose,( your intake hose maybe be set low) luckily it was not enough to lock up your motor! truth is something put a load on your motor to slow it down, if it was electrical it would be with your alternator/ belt. (alt. should charge @ 14.5 volts dc).

Q: Your opinion on a Honda Civic 2001 LX?
I am considering buying a Honda Civic LX for $6,000 that has 94,000 miles on it from a dealer, and wanted to get some opinions on that car and that price. If you have one, how does it drive, is it low maintenance. Do you have to get it fixed often, just your opinion. Thanks.

A: A great economical vehicle with lots of life still left in it providing it has been maintained well! IT IS DUE FOR TIMMING BELT,WATER PUMP AND FRONT SEALS REPLACEMENT. It may be prudent for you to ask the dealer to handle that as part of the deal if it has not already been taken care of. obtain copy of carfax for your peace of mind! dealers do not normally buy or sell vehicles with a history, but you never can tell.

Q: Planning to get a 2001 Honda Civic LX Coupe Manual?
Any mechanical problems I should be concern about? - It has 140,xxx miles. Also when does the clutch start to go bad? And what should I look for when examining the car?

A: In addition to the major engine concerns, the LX doesn't have the VTEC, so if you want a little more power and torque you should get the EX.

Q: 2001 Honda Civic LX vs 2001 Geo Prizm?
I have a choice between two used cars: a 2001 Honda Civic LX for $3900, and a 2001 Geo Prizm for $4100. The Civic has 146,000 miles, and the Prizm has 60,000 miles. Which is a better bet?

A: Civic all the way. Have you ever seen a geo? The little budget cars that go from 0-60 in 5 million years?

Q: Anyone know a rough estimate on brakes and strutts cost on a 2001 Honda civic Lx?
altogether with the labor included?

A: It depends on what quality struts are being installed. The labor rates also vary depending upon where you live. Front struts usually take anywhere from 2-4 hours depending upon how experienced the Technician is and how honest the shop is. With brakes the same thing applies. To replace front and rear pads and rotors 2-4 hours. It also depends on whether they machine the rotors and/or flush the brake fluid. With rear drum brakes the cost is usually higher due to additional labor time and the possibility of needing wheel cylinders. Good luck and hope this helps
