Q: Will my 2001 Honda Civic Cold Air Intake work on my 1996 Honda Civic Ex?
Bought a 2001 Honda Civic Ex and Sold it. Still have the parts left over. I just bought a 96 Ex and am wondering if I'll need to get a whole new part.
A: Honestly I would Say No.
Only due to the fact, that One, its a different generation model.
Two Motors are most likely not the same, Vtec to r-type etc.
But most likely that Air Intake is made directly for 7th gen civic, you now have 6 gen civic
Q: What oil should I use for an oil change on a 2001 Honda Civic EX?
I own a 2001 Honda Civ EX and a label under the hood of my car says to use Synthetic PAG oil. Is there a benefit to this? If so what benefit as oppose to using regular motor oil?
A: Be careful!!! PAG oil is a special oil used to lubricate your car’s air-conditioner components! It is not for your engine!
However, for your engine, you can use multi grade engine oils like (10W-40 semi synthetic) or (15w-50 full synthetic) Those are oil grades, not brands. You choose the brand you like. "Mobil" brand for example is excellent.
Q: P0740 For Honda Civic 2001 EX?
I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX AT with at P0740 check engine code. Car is still running fine with no significant changes except for check engine light. Dealer recommended to replace transmission which would cost around $2600. Is this the only way to resolve this problem? was thinking of getting my transmission fluid changed but heard that this could damage my car more.
A: the code usually indicates that the torqure converter clutch is not engaging because of a restriction in the fluid passages that provide hydraulic pressure to the clutch. Unfortunately those passages are usually clogged by debris from the wear of the parts inside the transmission.
While Honda doesn't recommend it, I would recommend you have the transmission flushed rather than just changing the fluid. Changing the fluid only gets about 40% of the fluid out of the trans and doesn't get any out of the torque converter. Take the car to a shop that hooks up the transmission flush machine that cycles the fluid through the trans and have the flush done. It will run about $150 but its certainly worth a try versus leaving it alone or replacing the trans. I've seen the flush do wonders for the transmissions on older cars.
most transmission shops will do a flush as will most Honda dealers. Be sure they replace the fluid with the Hondamatic fluid for your car. Using Dextron type fluids can lead to seal leaks. They can also filter the fluid that comes out of the car to see how much debris is in the fluid and how severe the internal wear is.
Also, the condition can be caused by a sticking TCC solenoid. The flush will usually free up the solenoid.
If it were my car I'd definetly do the flush before making a decision.
by the way, if the car has been fine all along the tech note on the replacement of the torque converter probably doesn't apply.
Hope that helps
Q: sound system in a 2001 honda civic ex?
I am planning on buying an alpine stereo, and I know the ex's have subs and tweeters. Do I need to buy an amp with the new stereo? and how would i hook up the subs and tweeters to the new stereo, do the sub/tweet cords run up to the front?
A: Yes they should. The tweets are usually ran with the front speakers unless there is a separate output and or an equalizer. The subs are connected to the amp. If you already have an amp in the care, them chances are that the RC cables are already being ran to the deck, and they are self explanatory. The red plugs into the red input and the whit to the white. I'm not sure of you have a stock stereo, but I am assuming not, so connect all the colors from the car to the new deck. If you have a stock deck, go to a shucks or a department store that sells stereo equipment and get a wiring harness that works according to your Honda. http://www.ehow.com/how_2062687_install-subwoofers.html
Q: How much should I sell my 2001 Honda Civic EX for?
It's a four door automatic with a dented rear bumper and a large stain on rear passenger seat. It also needs a new transmission. I don't want to give it away for nothing but also realize its problems. I would appreciate if I could at least get a reasonable starting price.
A: The best thing you could do is find comparables on craigslist and see what other people are asking. If you are too high people wont even make an offer and if you are too low people will think it is a scam and not talk to you about it either.
I like craiglook.com because it searches all of craigslist not just your area.
Here is a link to your car on all of craigslist: http://www.craiglook.com/all.html?q=2001+Honda+Civic+EX&g=1000
Q: Where can I find a 2001 Honda Civic EX underhood Fuse Box Diagram?
I am looking for a diagram which will tell me what each fuse is for for the fuses in the box under the hood. Thanks.
A: I can send a scan from the owner's manual showing the fuse box diagram if you can send me a private email address. To do that, click on the icon for my name next to the answer. then, in the right side of the profile click on "email" and send me your email address. that way your email address doesn't get posted on yahoo answers.
I need to know if your car is a sedan or a coupe as they are different.
hope that helps
Q: How long do struts last on a 2001 Honda Civic EX?
A friend of mine is selling his car and is willing to sell me his front and back Tokico Struts for $200. He said the rear ones have 6k on them and the front ones have 1k miles on them. My car is almost at 95,000, and I figured I'm going to need some new ones soon anyways. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
A: It all depends on your driving habits. Go for it.
Q: What parts are needed to lower a 2001 honda civic ex correctly and safely?
I know ill need springs or whatever but waht about camber kits and anything else. what is an exact list of all the pieces needed so that i dont have to worry about breaking anything

Q: i recently bought a 2001 honda civic ex coupe and am wondering what the best performance upgrades are?
also, audio systems or anything...links are great.
i do not have a big budget for any upgrades but ANY answer that is relevant will be good.
thanks
A: Alright, the 2001 Civic (7th Generation) has a newer engine which Honda didnt use before. The D17 is hard to get power out of with the basic bolt ons (intake, header, exhaust) and more than likely you will feel the car get slower.
The best results that I got from my ride was suspension upgrades. Your car will handle better, corner faster, and you can enjoy it every single time you drive.
As for power, there are a few turbo kits for it but you have to find the few tuner companies that offer it. The car can make good numbers off of it. Personally, I am waiting for the K20 engines to come down in price (RSX engines) since those are good tuning engines and they swap easily into the 7th gen civic. Check out this site, great resource for the civics.

Q: Can anyone help with 2001 honda civic ex coupe power steering pump noises?
So I have a leak coming from somewhere on my power steering pump, I can't find it anywhere. It's making an awful loud noise when turning the wheel left and right. When turning the wheel the fluid over flows and it's like foam and bubbles...I had it flushed but it's still doing it...do i just need to replace my power steering pump or is it the seals maybe? Any answers or comments would be greatly appreciated.
A: The fluid is foaming up because the system is sucking air. check the inlet hose for a pinhole, the clamp where it connects to the pump and the pump seals. Good luck
Q: where is oxygen sensor located on 2001 honda civic EX coupe?
i need detailed instructions on where its located and any tips (do's and don'ts ) on how to replace it. also if you could direct me to a helpful site that would be appreciated.
A: most cars/trucks have 2 O2 sensors both of these sensors are in the exhaust one is before the catalytic converter the other is right after they look like bolts that get smaller in the back and have wires coming out of them to get them out you probably should spray them with pb blaster or something of that type before you change them you need to determine which one is bad Just so you know it may be the catalytic converter if this part is bad it can make your O2 sensors act up which will make the car run wrong. after you spray the O2 sensor let it set then you put the wrench on it and try to turn it out if that doesn't work then you may need to heat it up and try Again. help full website autozone.com make an account its free then look up repair guide for your car
Q: Which is the brake light fuse for my 2001 honda civic ex?
My tail light works and everything else works.
I want ot check the brake light fuse first, any idea which one it is? I can't find it in the owner'rs manual.
My tail lights work, turn signals, back up light and everything. The brake lights simply do not turn on when the brakes are applied.
A: I don't think you will find a brake light fuse. The tail light circuit would be on a single fuse. If the tail lights work the fuse is not the problem. You need to look at the brake light switch. The brake lights are part of the turn signal circuit. if turn signals work then circuit and bulbs are good.
Q: what kind of mods can i do to my 2001 honda civic ex?
i dont want to spend more than 150$ on my car, but i want it to look at least a little awesome. is there any ways to do that for so little money. i like to make things so if you can make something ,than that works to. thanks. im neon lights maybe a body kit, maybe just some smaller accessories.
A: well just get stickers more horse power and looks lol
Q: How do I turn off Maintenance Indicator Light on 2001 Honda Civic EX?
thanks wise person too bad i just replaced my timing belt and everything else. it was just a simple question =)
A: If it has a digital odometer just hold down the button that you use to reset the trip odometers but do it while it is in regular odometer mode and not trip odometer. If it isn't digital there should be a spot on the speedometer to insert your key to reset it.
Q: Are there suspension kits to help rise the height of my 2001 honda civic ex sedan?
sometimes i drive in rough terrains.
the suspension is original.
A: How much tire gap (the space between the tire and the body of the car) do you have? If you have 1.5 inches or less you can raise it safely, by buying the stock suspension that is, if the suspension that is on the car now is aftermarket. Aftermarket kits are usually a different color than stock coils. If you can, look under there and see what they look like. If they are aftermarket coils, it should say the brand on the coils.
