Q: will the b18c engine fit in my 2001 honda civic dx coupe?
i have a 2001 civic dx with the useless d17a1 non vtec. I want some thing BIG with lots of hp. any suggestions? I heard by word of mouth that the b18c will bolt right up is that true?
A: No, it won't bolt right up. In fact, you would need to custom fabricate engine mounts, figure out a way to get it wired up, and find an ecu that would work. Even Hasport doesn't make a mount kit to put it in. If it was a 2000 Civic, then it would basically bolt right up. But since you have a 2001, the upgrade for that would be a K-series engine.
Q: What are the Automatic Transmission Ratings on a 2001 Honda Civic DX?
How much power/torque will the stock automatic transmission from this car reliably handle without breaking? The transmission is a 4 speed automatic. The 2001 Honda Civic DX uses a D17A1 engine that develops 115 bhp and 110 lb-ft of torque stock, if that helps. Thanks.
A: You dont want to increase the horespower by much a little wouldnt hurt but too much and it will eat up the clutches inside not to mention bands, servo, planitary gear, etc
Q: what is the difference between a 2001 honda civic dx 5 speed and a ex 5 speed?
I have a 2001 honda civic dx 5 speed and I'm tring to buy parts for it and some of them say "ex only" and I want to know the diffrence is.
A: 2001 Civic DX has a non-VTEC engine whereas compared to the EX model that does have VTEC. That's why when shopping for parts, they ask you that question. Other than that, the DX is the lower-scale model available without options such as power windows, power door locks, power mirrors.
Q: Honda Civic 2001 DX is making a strange noise when i start the engine. please help!?
When i turn the key to start the engine to my honda it sounds like a train on a railroad track. It's a low hissing sound. the check engine light does not come on and the car still runs, any suggestions?
A: Sounds like an exhaust leak. Could be anywhere between the manifold and the first cat to make that noise. Take it to a muffler shop, they should be able to confirm quite easy.
Q: How much hourse power will i get if i put a cold air intake to a 2001 Honda Civic DX?
A: Realistically, under 5. You'll see more with additional mods like header and exhaust.

Q: 2001 honda civic dx salvaged?
the owner bought the car from an insurance auction for his son but his son could not learn stick shift so he is selling the car. It is a 2001 honda civic dx. the owner said it was a theft recovery thats why it has a salvage tittle. no power doors or locks 5spd 53k looks like the front and rear bumpers were replaced because there slightly darker the the car. overall the car looks good on the outside and no oil leaks. wants $4900 good or bad purchase?
A: I have purchased probably 8 salvaged vehicles that were rebuilt over the years but I never bought one that was a theft recovery. The ones I bought were all totaled and rebuilt.
Have it checked out by a mechanic or take it to a Firestone dealer for an inspection. They charge about $20. Tell them you don't need the tires rotated (that is included in the price) and would rather have them spend their time making sure everything is OK with the vehicle.
If the bumpers may have been replaced check underneath for hidden damage. Could be that new bumper covers were put on but there is other damage not showing without closer inspection.
It sounds like a good deal to me, especially if you plan on keeping the car for a long time. If not just remember that when you go to sell it, the fact that it does not have a clean title may make it more difficult to get top dollar for it.
I have a 96 Accord LX wagon with stick shift that I bought in November, just 5 months ago. The car was salvaged and has a rebuilt title. It was involved in a collision that entailed damage to both the front and rear of the vehicle. It looks and runs great. I took it to Firestone and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. It only had 42,296 miles on it when I bought it and now has just over 53,000. I paid more than it was worth, $5,000, which would have been a fair price for a 97 model with a clean title but it was worth it to me and I plan on keeping it for years so I will get my money's worth out of it. If I only kept it for 5 years and put 100,000 miles on it and then sold it for $2000 then that would be just fine.
You have to decide if the price is right and if it is worth it to you. Trade in value should be around $4500 for one with a clean title but retail value is over $7000. So you are getting it closer to trade in value. Sounds reasonable to me.
According to NADA the car books at $6775 value for clean retail without AC or $7025 with air. Insurance companies use NADA. And they would pay you retail value if you totaled the car.
It would also be a good idea to run a CarFax or AutoCheck report on the vehicle for your own piece of mind just to see if the odometer reading makes sense and is accurate although these reports are not always reliable.
Q: 2001 Honda Civic DX (sedan) [rear speakers]?
i have a 2001 Honda civic dx sedan and the question i have is..
how do i change the rear speakers that are located all the way in the back? i would really like to put some infinity speakers in it.
thanks!!
A: 1. Fold down the rear seats and remove them.
the small seat on the left has a small velcro patch with 2 bolts, remove the bolts and pull the seat out. in the same bracket you will find another screw to remove the other seat back. pull the screw and push the seat a little to pop it out.
2. Remove bottom of seat
there is one screw in the right center of the bottom seat. it will be right near the seat belt clip. remove that screw and just pull up, doesnt require a lot of force.
3. Remove window trims
the trim panels on the sides of the rear window are just on clips so just give it a small tug and both of them will just pop out.
4. Remove side panels
in order to get the package tray out the side panels need to be removed too. there is one clip where the trunk access is on either side. this clip was a pain in the ass to get out for me. after it is removed start at the package tray and pull the side panel outwards. keep pulling it out in the same way because it hooks around the door jam. repeat for the opposite side.
5. Remove package tray (finally)
from the back seat you will find 3 clips that fold under the edge of the tray and clip in, this is along the top of the trunk access. from the trunk you will find 7 white clips sticking through. use a pair of pliers to squeeze them and push them up through. also remember to disconnect the wires to the speakers and brake light. then again from the inside, just lift and pull the tray out.
6. Replace Speakers
remove the 4 bolts holding the old ones in and put in whatever ones you want.
Q: Should I trade my 2001 Honda Civic Coupe DX?
Should I trade my 2001 Honda Civic Coupe DX with 109k miles for a 1998 Honda Accord EX with 136k miles?
I just replaced the timing belt, water pump, plugs, muffler, tires, wheels, and other belts on the Civic. Both Cars have clean titles.
Let me know what you all think.... thank you!
What about a 2002 Accord EX v6 model with 62k miles, salvage title.
I am only interested in trading because my wife does not like my Civic. And I am not dealing with dealers, private parties that are looking to trade.
A: No way, you know your car and what you have replaced, but you
don't know what you are in for with a different car. If you find
one that is newer and has significantly fewer miles, like 48k,
then maybe yes.
Q: My passenger side airbag deployed, how do I get the SRS / Airbag light to go off. 2001 Honda Civic DX?
The airbag light stays on when I start the car, is there anyway to get the light turned off. I still have a driver side airbag, so if I tamper with the light for the passenger side, will it affect my drivers side airbag. thank you
A: YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG THAT DEPLOYED ,THE CRASH SENSOR,AND POSSIBLY THE MODULE,BY NO MEANS DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE AIR BAG YOU COULD BE SERIOUSLY HURT!!!!LEAVE IT FOR THE PROFESIONALS,YOU CAN STILL DRIVE IT WITH THE LIGHT ON IT JUST MEANS THE SISTEM IS DEACTIVATED UNTIL REPAIRS ARE PERFORMED.
Q: what is the top speed of a 2001 honda civic dx?
A: LOL That's a funny question. That's like asking the top speed of a geo metro. They are a good car but cmon they are not fast. You can make almost anything go well over 100 it just takes longer for some to get there. As for a civic it would take a five mile stretch to the floor going straight down hill with nitrous.Get a life people.
Q: I'm thinking of buying a 2001 Honda Civic DX Sedan 4door with 95,600KM for $7495Cdn. Is this a good deal?
The car is in good condition (clean with no rust).
A: A 2001(8 yrs old) Civic DX with 95,600 Km for $7495 is a bit overpriced. At that mileage, it's time(96,000Km) for a timing belt and a water pump replacement. Try knock it down between $6000 and $6500 if the car hasn't had timing belt and water pump changed and maintenance records. Also, you would.probably need a new set of tires, winter is here. It's a very good deal if the car has no accident, passed the emission test and safety test, new timing belt and water pump.
Q: what is the initial value of a 2001 honda civic DX?
A: new off the lot i would say sticker on the dx the base model, any where from 11,000 to 12,000
Q: I have a 2001 Honda Civic DX Coupe. I just got 17 inch rims and wanted to know if 205/50/17 would fit?
A: Yes it fits perfectly but try to put a lower series like 40 or 45 and a wider one like 215. It will avoid rubbing a will look better on your car. Try to look for the proper offset of your rims. Hope this helps!
Q: 2001 Honda Civic DX frame straightening cost. It was ran up a curb, airbags deployed and frame might be bent.?
Can someone tell me a rough estimate cost to get this frame straight? It's a minor bend since the car seems to drive fine. The impact broke the stabilizer link and probably bent the stabilizer spring also.
A: i do this repair a lot as we have snow here most of the parts you usally bend can be unboted the cost ile $200 to $600 tha air bag can be $1000 you will need a new wheel also try to find the parts used it will save you some cash
