Q: can i put a VTEC engine in a 2000 Honda civic lx?
i have a 2000 Honda civc Lx and i was wondering if i could put a VTEC motor in? and if so what kind? i dont really know alot about honda cars.
A: http://www.hmotorsonline.com
this site helped me out a lot!
I would recommend trying to find a B18C1. Its the GSR motor.
It does have VTEC and has a reasonably high displacement and great compression.
But if you wanted a smaller engine try getting your hands on a B16B. They're only available in cars in japan, or by motor importers such as the website above. B16A2 would also be good for your car, but not as good as any of the above (although by far an improvement on what you have).
I take it you understand what the codes mean? If not:
eg. B16A2
B-series
1.6L
A model
2nd generation.
use wikipedia also.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_B_engine
wikipedia has A LOT of information on all the honda motors from A-series through to H-series(?).
with whatever swap you do. you will need to get it professionally done, because otherwise you void the warranty of the engine. and you will GREATLY reduce the value of the car.
Hope this helped. Good luck champ.
Q: When does a catalytic converter need to be replaced on a 2000 Honda civic lx?
My check engine light is on and at 79,600miles the mechanic said I need to replace the catalytic converter and O2 sensors in my civic. I feel like this should not be breaking on my car already. I have only had it 8 months and the quote to fix it is really expensive.
A: get your car to a honda dealer immediately. the catalytic converter is covered for 8 years or 80,000 miles whichever comes first. you're 400 miles short of the expiration of the warranty, so get to the dealer before your warranty expires or you'll be in for an expensive repair.
the warranty is on the car, not on the owner, so it doesn't matter if you're the original owner or not.
I doubt you need to replace both the converter and the 02 sensor. there is no causal relationship between the two. the Honda dealer will tell you there is a charge to do the diagnostic to determine if it is the converter or not. if it is the converter there should be no charge for diagnosis. if it is something else then you'll have to pay for the diagnosis.
take it to the honda dealer asap.
Q: I drive a 2000 Honda Civic LX stick shift and I have a hard time changing gears when I'm driving?
I have to step on the clutch all the way in order to change gear. What do I need to do to stop this from happening? This never happened to me before. Sometimes when I step on the gas when I warm up the car in the morning it helps but I'm worried, it could be something more serious & expensive. Does anyone out there know? Thanks!!!
A: this sounds like a synchro problem, you should always step on the clutch all the way, or you can do more damage, the best first bet is to get a transmission fluid change, all the metal filings from your syncros will be floating around in there so get those out and see if it improves, if it does, then just try and be more careful about stepping on the clutch all the way, and firm positive shifts, if the fluid change does not improve the condition, you may need a rebuild. this is unlikely to be a clutch problem, especially if revving it up a little in neutral first helps,
Q: what are the best things i can to increase my hp in a 2000 honda civic lx?
im looking to put in roughly 1000 dollars, what are the greatest things i can do to gain the most hp in the spending range?
A: cold air intake 10-15hp and exhaust hp depends
Q: i have a 2000 honda civic lx 4 door and i want to put headers?
and a catalytiv convter on from ebay. i want to putt it on my stock exhaust pipes, is tht an easy bolt on?
A: Easy? If everything goes as planned. if not, then it could be your worst nightmare.
It is common for these bolts + studs to be very rusty and they break frequently. if you snap Cat mounting bolts, it should take good 2 - 3 hours to drill them out. unless you have access to a lifter, you won't be able to cut it with power saw. Dealer manual says you would replace all the studs when taken out. Combined with all the required gasket, it should run you close to $100 (2 gaskets, 3 studs, and several 12-13mm nuts, and 2 crush gaskets)
If you happen to break the bolts at head level (the bolts that mounts to the cylinder head) well, likely that you won't be able to find a drill that fits in this space. So you will have to take the front bumper, grill, and all the front end out to make space for drilling the bolts. Otherwise, your only alternative is to take the engine out.
Your OE Cat. is Excellent! I don't think you would be able to find better cat from eBay. You should know that there are two O2 sensors that you would need to transfer to new system. You won't be able to take then out without O2 sensor sockets, and when taken out, they would need to be treated to Anti-seize (you can get this from automotive store for $10). Threaded area only, otherise you would trash the sensors and end up replacing them as well (They run around $100-200 each)
Q: 2000 Honda civic LX car front lights are dim. Is it time for replacement?
How do I know if it is an alternator/charging problem? Howmuch it would cost for it?
A: You proably just need to change the bulbs
Q: On a honda civic 2000 lx what is the D3 and D4 gear? Which one is used for what?
What are the changes is the gear? Can someone explain what to use when driving on streets, highways and different weather conditions? Thank You!
A: Just leave it in D, they are just lower and higher gears, if you want to use engine braking when going downhill you can downshift into a lower gear but the transmission does this automatically anyway
Q: Timing belt for 2000 honda civic LX?
Is it neccesary to lift up the engine in order to change the timing belt for 2000 honda civic LX sedan?
Can i just change my 2000 honda civic LX sedan without lifting up the whole engine?
Thank you.
A: Lifting the engine isn't necessary. But lifting the front corner of your car is necessary as you will need to remove your wheel to get clearance and access to your crankshaft pulley from under your wheel well.
You'll need to hold your engine leveled from underneath your oil pan after you remove your engine mount; But you don't have to lift it up - just supported while your engine mount is not in place.
Good luck!
Q: My Honda Civic 2000 lx heater comes on but the heater is off...I feel warmth coming from the vents?
What could be causing this? Is it because the car is overheated?
A: is it when you are actually driving and the vehicle is moving? if so, then you probably have the little return vent thing turned to bring in fresh air from the outside. if that is the case, then the air from outside is blowing over the warm coils of the heater and still coming through the vents. if you change it to only circle within your car, then it will not blow at all unless you have it on.
Q: 2000 honda civic lx?
can anybody tell me, in detail PLEASE, where the ignition coil is located under the hood of a 2000 honda civic lx 4dr
A: It is where the missing coil wire is. All contained inside the distributor. Under the black distributor cap and sometime not available as a separate part.
Q: Good color for 2000 honda civic lx?
i have a 2000 honda civic lx that has burgundy exterior and a brown interior and i wanted to know what colors would be nice for the exterior because i need a new color for it
A: midori green
Q: How do I remove the rear seats so I can change the rear deck speakers on a 2000 Honda Civic LX sedan?
A: You don't have to remove the seat. Just the plastic deck lid. It snaps in from underneath. Once you have that off, you take the screws out from the top. You will need a stubby screwdriver because the rear window is right there.
Q: check engine light on a 2000 honda civic LX?
I have a 2000 Honda Civic LX, and the check engine light is on, and the car idles really low (just above 0), but does not stall out. We had it hooked up to a diagnostic machine (we went to Autozone), and the codes that pop up are: 1399, and 1381. Other than it idling low, the car runs great, still goes 0-60 in 8 seconds, still shifts perfect. Any idea what is going on with it, and what do the codes mean? btw, it has a little over 130,000 miles on it.
last month we had a tune up done on the car, oil change, new spark plugs, etc. My step-dad is a mechanic, and he even set the idle up, but within 3 days it went back down to above 0.
A: Per honda's tech web sight... just to add to what dodge man said. typed in the other code and honda doesn't have anything also would like to point out that if a valve adjust was done incorrectly, your idle will be affected, and on civics it is very easy to over adjust the valves causing idle and runnablity issues.
DTC P1381 Set? Check the
Ignition Coil Shield
Troubleshooting a DTC P1381 (CYP sensor
intermittent interruption) in a ’98–02 Accord L4 or
’96–00 Civic? If you can’t find anything wrong
after following the procedure in the appropriate
S/M, then remove the distributor cap, and make
sure the coil shield is in place and it’s correctly
installed. If the coil shield installation
looks OK, then the ignition coil is the probably
faulty and should be replaced.
Q: Why does my 2000 Honda Civic LX get only 22-23 mpg?
it's automatic, with AC, only 26,000 miles, I had it since it was new, but even so shouldn't it get better mileage by now? When it was new people would say it wasn't broke in yet.
A: It depends on how you drive. The fuel rating tests are based on ideal conditions, and granny driving essentially. Though you should check things like your tire pressure, and maybe have your car tuned. Little things can really add up over time.
Q: Biggest rims i can fit on a 2000 honda civic LX 4 door and what tire size without rubbing?
A: 19 inch rims with 30 series tires on stock height
