Q: How do i get to and change the transmission fluid filter on a 2000 honda civic dx?
i was told that the transmission filter is "inside" the car... can anyone help me to get in it and change it... i just wanna be able to work on my own car.... even just some of the stuff... its not even about the money i may or maynot save... i just want to work on my own car.. 2000 honda civic dx
A: Yes, the ATF filter is inside the tranny. Are you having problems with your transmission?
It is a more advance maintenance job, than your regular oil filter change. You will have to open it from the bottom pan.
The manual does not even have it scheduled on the book that it needs replacement.

A: Rear are drums. Your basic R&R, remove and replace brake shoes.
Replace springs if you can.

A: They are not difficult to change. If you think that you are capable of changing a muffler you can do it.
Still won't be cheap. Unfortunately no real alternative.
If the shop does it, there is at l;east some warranty.

A: D16Y7 1.6liter is the one that should be in there, anything that is OBD II and D-series will fit in there.
many civics that year swap out for the more powerful B series motor but it involves changing transmission axles computer etc.
so depends on how much you are willing to spend.

average D16 VTEC
more money B16 or B18 or H22 prelude motor.
really rich get a turbo k20a2 turbo.

I need new tires and I was wondering if I could put the 195/50 r15 tires on my honda civic. If I do will i have any problems since my car is lowered?
A: It will fit fine if you have 15" rims, it might look a little off. The stock ones are 195/70/15, so the one's you want are 20% shorter than your OEM.

A: Well the easy way to tell is look at it.
If there is a shaft with a spring on the outside it is a strut.
If it has no spring and is just a shaft going from point A to point B it is a shock.
On some cars you can have struts in the front and shocks in the back.
Others have just struts and others just shocks.

i tightened it too hard so it broke what can happen to my car and how can i fix it?
A: Bummer. It's not terminal, since it's just a valve cover bolt. But, you probably want to get it to someone you trust who can extract the broken remnant of the bolt out of the hole and replace it. As long as other bolts are holding the valve cover in place, you can drive the car, but keep an eye on any oil that might leak out from the valve cover gasket, and get the broken bolt extracted and replaced as soon as possible.
If you want to enjoy the frustration of removing a broken bolt, go to your local auto parts store and get a set of extractors; there are various kinds out there. You usually have to drill into the broken bolt, then screw the extractor into the drilled hole, which will also screw the broken bolt out. In theory. In practice, expect lots of cussing, busted knuckles, and many failed attempts before it finally comes out.

A: All this means is to see what maintenance is required according to the owners manual for that mileage. to turn the maintenance reminder green take a small screw driver and press the small black button under the red window you will need a pretty small screw driver. it will not hurt the car if you drive it and it is red.
